The ALWTG Edit: BEAUTY

From cleansers and balms to body brushes and lip care, here is a list of 12 products every mum should buy to best take care of their bodies during pregnancy, postpartum, breastfeeding and beyond.

talm Mega Oil

This is the perfect oil for mums to have in their beauty arsenal. It’s infused with botanical oils and incredibly hydrating, which makes it perfect for those wanting something to massage into their bumps or across their C-section scars (once fully healed). The best thing is that it’s fast-absorbing, meaning you don’t have to wait around for it to dry before getting on with life.

Frida Mom C-Section Silicone Scar Patches

Hydration is key when it comes to caring for your C-section scar, which is why we encourage all women to invest in silicone scar patches. This 8” long patch covers the length of your scar as is made of a medical-grade silicone that is dermatologist-recommended. The best bit is that you can wear each patch for up to seven days.

NAYDAYA Scar Saviour

There’s a reason this is a cult favourite. A little bit of this balm goes a long way, which makes it perfect for those in need of something that’ll help minimise the appearance of scaring, hydrate the skin and reduce hyperpigmentations. It’s made of plant-derived ingredients and is safe to use during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Silicone Cupping Therapy Set

Cupping is one of the best ways to improve blood circulation, reduce adhesions and increase tissue mobility after a C-section, which is why a simple cupping therapy set is a great tool to have in your bedside table. Once the scar is healed, apply a lubricant (like the talm Mega Oil) and place the cup above or below the scar and gently glide, twice and wiggle it around the surrounding tissue.

SKN TO SKN Balancing Act Gel-To-Oil Cleanser

No fuss, no mess. This cleanser will leave your skin feeling incredibly hydrated and nourished. It’s infused with maracuja oil, Omegas 3, 6 & 9, and Vitamin E, and does wonders when it comes to removing make-up and leaving skin feel plump, not dry, after washing. If you’re trying to find a new beauty routine, let this be your first step on your journey.

Luna Daily The Motherhood Wash

Take back 5 minutes in your day with this pregnnacy, postpartum and breastfeeding-safe body wash. It’s infused with the likes of Arnica, Calendula and Bisabolol, and will leave your skin feeling hydrated and cared for, so you can better care for those around you.

Maria Nila Scalp Brush

Whether you’re suffering from postpartum hair shedding or simply need an at-home salon-worthy head massage, then consider investing in a scalp brush. Keep this brush next to your shampoo and conditioner and implement massage into your daily routine to exfoliate the scalp, remove product build-up and release tension.

Weleda Skin Food Lip Balm

This is a nourishing lip balm that all breastfeeding mums should have in arms reach during feeds and it is incredibly rich and smooth. It’s made up of natural plant extracts and will leave your lips feeling hydrated and cared for, 24/7.

La Roche-Posay Lipikar Lait Urea 5+ Lotion

Another firm favourite among postpartum body workers, this body milk is incredible at moisturising your skin and restoring the skin barrier. It’s a fantastic cream to use if you’re wanting to find a lotion that isn’t greasy and can be lathered on after a shower onto your postpartum stomach and fully-healed C-sections.

ESPA Skin Stimulating Body Brush

Dry brushing after a C-section can be incredibly beneficial in helping to reduce swelling and promote circulation. Once your scar is fully healed, use this brush by applying light pressure above and below your incision and make gentle strokes towards the lymphs nodes, starting away from the scar to stimulate nerve recovery across the abdomen.

Lansinoh Nipple Cream

While this cream is a common favourite among mums suffering from cracking nipples, we suggest investing in this product simply for how brilliant it is at moisturising your lips. Protect your pout by applying a thick layer of this cream during the day (especially before you go to bed) and provide some much-needed hydration back to your skin.

NAQI - Cica Cream

Many professionals will direct C-section mums to Naqi Cica Cream given it’s a product that promises to improve the appearance of scars and stimulate skin regeneration. Apply the cream at least once a day to healed scars to reduce itching and repair the skin.
